Youth Restorative Services Coordinator – BARJ

Do you believe in young people's capacity to make meaningful changes in their lives? Have you worked with youth who have experienced trauma, and come from diverse racial, economic and other backgrounds? You might be the right fit!

This position is responsible for providing restorative interventions across youth programs with young people who are at risk to engage, or who are already engaged, with the juvenile justice system, particularly through our Balanced and Restorative Justice (BARJ) program and through our Restorative Practices work in Chittenden County. Program staff work with young adults ages 11-23 to repair harm that they might have caused to themselves, others and the community, as well as assist in skill development to ensure harm does not happen again. This position also provides support to affected parties across youth programs.

This position will use restorative practices, a trauma-informed lens, and collaborate with multiple community partners, including area schools, to create a system for culturally responsive, early interventions. Staff will support programming that strengthens life skills development such as conflict resolution, social skills, decision making, community service/leadership skills and effective communication. For their justice-involved youth caseload, staff will provide a Youth Assessment and Screening Instrument (YASI) to determine risk and protective factors.
